Wesley Francis ""Frank""  Pumphrey
Wesley Francis “Frank” Pumphrey, 87, of Clarksburg passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 in Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center of Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was born in Weston on January 10, 1930: son of the late Ova Thomas Pumphrey and Anna Faye (Campbell) Pumphrey. On October 16, 1952, he married Shirley Jane (Wright) Pumphrey, who survives.
Mr. Pumphrey was blessed with three daughters: Lucinda “Cindy” Presley and husband Wallace of Richmond, VA, Debra Weaver (deceased) and Kimberly Mitchell and husband John of Columbus, OH, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Roger Dale and Roscoe “Bud” Pumphrey of Wooster, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by one daughter: three brothers: Earl Paul, Roy Thomas and Jim Pumphrey and five sisters: Mary Fay Bonnett, Ethel Marie Sprouse, Meryl Louise Ware, Betty Mae Donaldson and Oleta Irene Hazelswartz.
Mr. Pumphrey was retired from the United States Army where he served one tour in Vietnam, two tours in Korea and two tours in Germany and was a DAV member. He attended Weston High School and was a Baptist by faith. His hobbies included hunting and playing baseball.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Matt Ridenhour officiating. Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
