ROBERT STANFORD “SONNY” CRANE, 78, of East 4th Street Weston, West Virginia passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 and went to be with the Lord. The son of the late Robert L. Crane and Edith (Bailey) Crane, he was born on January 22, 1940 in Newark, New Jersey. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 57 years; only daughter Susan Wolski (and husband David) of Chicora, PA, three sons Robert (and wife Karen) of Bellefonte, PA, Russell (and wife Jennifer) of Kennett Square, PA, and Randall (and wife Teresa) of Mount Bethel, PA; grandchildren Jessica Beron, Tia Wolski, Justin Wolski, Zac Crane, Ethan Crane, Abby Crane, Ben Crane, Emily Crane, Andrew Crane, Kelsey Crane, and Olivia Crane; great grandchildren Lily Beron and Bennett Beron. Sonny is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Richardson, Patty Streling, Joann Callahan, and brother, Bob Crane.
Sonny attended the Phoenix Art Institute in New York City and was a talented artist, draftsmen, and painter. His career spanned a number of artistic endeavors including lace & embroidery design, commercial drafting, commercial/residential painting, lighted and neon sign design, and commissioned fine art. As a fine artist, Sonny had a style honed from an eclectic range of influences, including Andy Warhol, Norman Rockwell, Andrew Wyeth, Van Gogh, and Rembrandt. He produced a great many oil paintings and watercolors. Two of his paintings of Civil War figures hang in the Mountaineer Military Museum.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 1-3 & 5-6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor L.A. Sperry officiating. Sonny will be interred at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ.
