Theasta Helen Ruth McCarty, 90, of Weston passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 in St Joseph’s Hospital of Buckhannon following an extended illness. She was born in Braxton County on January 14, 1928: daughter of the late Charles H. Ball and Delphia (Detamore) Ball. Mrs. McCarty was married to Leonard W. McCarty, who preceded her in death in 1955.
Mrs. McCarty is survived by one son: Leonard E. McCarty and wife Terry of Weston, one step son: Jack McCarty and wife Helen of Weston and one step daughter: Barbara Morrison of Continental, OH. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and their families: Michele Jamison, Melissa Reed, John Thomas McCarty, Sherry Hinnant, Russell Ball, II, John W. McCarty, Bertis McCarty, Cindy Ball Bailey and Monica Maur. She was also survived by one daughter-in-law: Dorothy McCarty of Windham, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Leonard, Helen was preceded in death by two sons: Russell Ball and David Leo McCarty, one step son: John McCarty, one grandson: Russell Ball and one sister: Elizabeth Anderson.
Mrs. McCarty retired in 1988 as a healthcare worker with Weston State Hospital with 30 years of service. She was a member of the Copen Creek United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included embroidery, quilting and reading. Helen was the last member of her immediate family.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services in Sunset Memorial Gardens of Clarksburg, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Helen may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
