Obituary for Brooks Franklin Harris Sr.

Brooks Franklin Harris, Sr., 89, passed away on November 15, 2018 at his son’s home in Ellamore, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Quinn Harris; his parents Frank and Laudia Harris; sisters Genevieve O’Hara and Pauline Hickman.
Brooks is survived by son Brooks F. Harris, Jr. (Lynda) of Ellamore, West Virginia; daughter Wendy Harris McEntire (Dale) of Saluda, North Carolina; daughter Pam Laszewski (Gary) of London, Ohio; grandchildren Joelle Harris Fryman (Kevin); Noah F. Harris; Michael Laszewski; Kevin Laszewski; Steven Laszewski (Heather; great grandchildren Koltyn Wayne Fryman; Noah Laszewski; Addison Laszewski.
A native of West Virginia, Brooks was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and sportsman. He was a veteran and graduate of Glenville State College where he met his wife Kathleen. Brooks had a career in the Ohio West Holmes School District as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and vice principal. He and his family enjoyed summers on the Middle Fork River in West Virginia. In his retirement, Brooks became a local author and antique dealer, and engaged with his Holmes County community through historical preservation and his love of finding antique “treasures.” He was known for his integrity, commitment to local history, and his generosity.
