Although technically Lora could be called a Homemaker, that title doesn’t do any woman justice, not by a long shot! We would prefer to call her a type of Wonder Woman instead. She had struggles in life, some of them were hard, yet she always had a ready smile.
She was an avid collector of glass items and an artist in the kitchen and in all things domestic. She would spontaneously break into dance around the house and much to her children’s embarrassment, also dance in the front yard. We would laugh at her terrible dancing yet still dance right alongside her. Lora was a beautiful and feisty redhead, a strong mountain woman, and she loved her family more than anything. She will be missed more than we can ever express in this small obituary.
Lora loved flowers all her life! Her favorites were wild mountain laurels and the rhododendron. She grew up in those famous West Virginia mountains, that she loved. As an adult she lived in town and the suburbs raising her children but longed all her life to return to the countryside where she grew up. We will always picture her there, standing in a field of flowers in the mountains, smiling. “Go rest high on that mountain” mama.
She will be buried at Post Chapel Cemetery in Crawford, West Virginia. There will be a small private family service on October 26th but no public viewing. Flowers can be sent to Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home in Weston.
